Offensive Weapons & Knife Crimes Course Highlight

The Advent eLearning Offensive Weapons & Knife Crimes course is a comprehensive, self-paced programme designed to help individuals who have been found in possession of an offensive weapon or bladed article or has attempted to import one.

Rooted in evidence-based cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) principles, the course defines what are considered to be offensive weapons, and what are the police powers and your rights concerning possession of them. We explore the motivations citizens sometimes have for carrying offensive weapons and knives and offer advice concerning a more mindful approach to the mental state that might lead an individual to illegally possess these weapons.

By fostering self-awareness and educating about the impacts of a conviction on you, your family and community, and by providing techniques to manage anger resulting in positive change, the course empowers participants to break negative behavioural cycles and to have more positive interactions in daily life.
